Embark on two epic journeys with Homer's The Iliad and The Odyssey--two of the oldest and most influential works of Western literature, and powerful ancient myths that still resonate today. Homer chronicled ancient Greek history and oral tradition, and in the 8th century BCE, he captured two epic stories told in verse that recounted the adventures of classical heroes and villains of mythology. From the devastating war between the ancient civilizations of Athens and Troy, to Odysseus's perilous and lengthy journey home...from gods and goddesses to sirens and suitors...the events and characters in
The Iliad and
The Odyssey had a profound effect on how stories have been told in books and Hollywood blockbusters.
