When trouble follows 16-year-old Billy Static, it doesn't just knock-it blows open a doorway to another world.Living in a patched-together barn house with his grandpa, Billy is used to hustling for groceries, dodging overdue bills, and dreaming big. But the day he helps an odd old man home to the fancy Hill Estate, Billy stumbles into a secret no one is supposed to know: somewhere inside that neighborhood is a way to cross the Static Barrier-a rip between his world and a realm of dragons, beasts, and creatures who don't want humans poking around. Suddenly, a "quick job" turns into a wild mission involving a grumpy "private investigator" who smells like burnt charcoal, a family aged overnight by invisible energy, and a gatekeeper who definitely wasn't thirteen a minute ago. To fix what's been broken, Billy will have to do the thing he's always promised his grandpa-come up with something. Only this time, it might mean saving two worlds instead of just paying the car insurance.
